FORGED CARBON · BLACK DIAL · RAINBOW RING · AUTOMATIC CHRONOGRAPH
Six Colours, And Every One Of Them At The Edge
The rainbow runs round the minute track in six equal arcs, and the rest of the dial is left black.
A dial with this much colour can easily turn into noise. This one keeps all of it to a single ring at the outer edge, where the minute track sits, and leaves the centre of the face glossy black.
The ring is split into six equal arcs, two hours each. Red runs from twelve to two, then orange, yellow, green, blue and violet, until the violet meets the red again at the top. Fine white minute strokes are printed across all six, so it reads as a scale first and a rainbow second.
Around it, nothing competes. The case and bezel are black forged carbon, the crown and pushers are black, and the strap is black canvas. Away from the dial, the only colour is the red stitching.

THE DIAL
Yellow, Picked Out Of The Ring
Three grooved grey counters trimmed in yellow, a yellow chronograph hand, and a winged emblem in white.
One colour from the ring comes inward. The counters at nine and three are ringed in solid yellow; the one at six carries its yellow as a circle of short strokes instead. The central chronograph hand is yellow too, with an arrow at its tip and a teardrop counterweight, so when the chronograph runs a yellow line sweeps the black.
The counters themselves are anthracite grey, cut with fine circular grooves like a record, and they catch the light in rings as the wrist turns. Their numerals are white.
Under twelve sits a winged emblem, printed in white with its feathers drawn line by line. The hour markers are applied steel, pointed at their inner end and filled with pale lume, with short square ones at three, six and nine.
How The Rainbow Ring Comes Together
Six colours on one narrow track, and each has to stop exactly where the next begins.
Glossy Black
The dial is finished smooth and glossy black. Every colour that follows is judged against it, so it has to be even from edge to edge.
Six Arcs
The minute track is laid down in six equal arcs, red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet, each covering two hours. A join that drifts off the hour shows at once.
White Strokes Over Colour
Fine white minute strokes are printed over all six arcs, all the way round, so the ring works as a scale.
Grooved Counters
The three counters are cut with fine circular grooves in anthracite grey, then trimmed in yellow and printed with white numerals.
Emblem, Markers, Hands
The winged emblem goes on in white, the lumed steel markers are applied, and the hands go on last, the yellow chronograph hand on top.

Why The Colour Works
Plenty of watches add colour. Fewer decide where it goes. This one puts the whole rainbow on the minute track, repeats one colour on the counters, and leaves the rest to black carbon. It asks $949.
THE BLACK RAINBOW SPEC

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the rainbow on the bezel?
Is the rainbow on the bezel?
No. The bezel is black forged carbon with a white tachymeter scale. The colour is on the dial, in a ring round its outer edge, under the crystal.
What order do the colours run in?
What order do the colours run in?
Clockwise from twelve: red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet, two hours each, with the violet meeting the red again at the top.
Is the case really carbon?
Is the case really carbon?
Yes, forged carbon. The grey marbling across the case and bezel is the fibre inside the material, not a finish on top, and it is laid differently on every case.
What colour is the stitching?
What colour is the stitching?
Bright red, down both long edges of a black woven canvas strap.
How heavy is it?
How heavy is it?
About 50 grams for the whole watch, roughly what an egg weighs. Forged carbon is far lighter than steel, which is why a 40 mm chronograph can sit this lightly on the wrist.
Does it come in other versions?
Does it come in other versions?
Yes. The same rainbow dial comes in a white carbon case with a black bezel, and this black case also comes with a woven carbon-fibre dial and a three-pointed star emblem.
Does it need a battery?
Does it need a battery?
No. It is automatic — it winds from the motion of your wrist. Left off for a couple of days it stops, and a minute back on the wrist restarts it.
