All-black carbon skeleton tourbillon watch on a dark walnut desk beside a fountain pen

BLACK THIN-PLY CARBON · ABOUT 38 GRAMS · SKELETON TOURBILLON

All Black Outside, Rose Gold Within

Case, crown and strap in black, so the open dial is the only thing that catches the light.

Most skeleton watches frame the movement in polished steel or gold, and the case ends up competing with the dial for attention. Here the case steps back.

Everything outside the crystal is black: the carbon case, the ribbed crown, the woven strap. The one light line is the thin polished frame round the opening. So when light falls on the watch, it lands on the movement — the rose-gold wheel at the upper left, the silver gears, the pink jewels, and the rose-gold bridge across the cage at six.

At arm's length it reads as a dark, quiet watch. Tilt it toward you and the colour comes up out of the dial.

THE CAGE AT SIX

The Showpiece Sits At Six O'Clock

The style is known as a flying tourbillon, and its cage is where the eye goes first.

A skeleton dial shows you the movement. This one saves its best part for the bottom of the dial.

At six sits the cage the watch is named for: large and round, set inside a ring of fine silver teeth, and crossed by an open rose-gold triangle. There is a pale-gold screw at each corner of the triangle and a bright pink jewel at its centre, ringed by three tiny steel screws.

The rest of the dial points toward it. Two long black bridges carry thin white lines down across the movement, small silver star-shaped screws sit along the way, and the hour and minute hands are open frames, so they pass over the cage without ever hiding it.

How An All-Black Carbon Watch Comes Together

Nothing here is coated black. The black is the carbon, and the grey grain comes with it.

STAGE 01

Fine Layers

Very fine sheets of carbon fibre are laid one on another, the start of a case that weighs next to nothing.

STAGE 02

One Solid Block

Pressed and cured under heat, the layers set into a single block of carbon.

STAGE 03

Cut In One Piece

The barrel-shaped case is machined from the block, and the grey-silver grain appears wherever the cutter crosses the layers.

STAGE 04

The Open Dial

The skeleton movement goes in behind a thin polished frame, with the rose-gold wheel at the upper left and the tourbillon-style cage at six.

STAGE 05

Black To Finish

A ribbed black crown and a black woven strap complete it, and every watch is checked by hand before it is boxed.

2-Year Warranty. 30-Day Refund.

Wear it for a month. If it is not what you expected, send it back for a full refund — no conditions, no restocking fee.

Why It Is All Black

Leaving every colour off the outside was the point: it hands the whole show to the rose gold, silver and pink under the crystal. A watch this quiet from across a room, and this busy up close, asks $899.

Frequently Asked Questions

check_box

Is anything on it not black?

Only the dial and the frame around it. The frame is a thin, bright polished silver, and under the crystal are a rose-gold wheel, silver gears, six bright pink jewels and a rose-gold bridge across the cage at six. Case, crown and strap are all black.

check_box

Why are there grey streaks in the case?

They are the layers of the carbon. The case is thin-ply carbon, built from very fine sheets and cut from one block, and the streaks are the edges of those sheets. No two cases show them in exactly the same way.

check_box

What is the cage at six o'clock?

It is the tourbillon-style cage the watch is named for; the style is known as a flying tourbillon. You see a large round cage inside a ring of fine silver teeth, crossed by an open rose-gold triangle with a pink jewel at its centre. If you want to know more about the movement before you order, message us and a person will answer.

check_box

Does it need a battery?

No. It is automatic — it winds from the motion of your wrist. Left off for a couple of days it stops, and a minute back on the wrist restarts it.

check_box

How heavy is it?

About 38 grams with the strap on, less than many steel watches weigh without their bracelet. At about 8.5 mm thick, it sits low and settled on the wrist.

check_box

Is the time easy to read on an open dial?

Yes. The hour and minute hands are open frames, but each is tipped with white lume, and white triangles mark the hours on the black track round the edge, so the time stands out against the movement.

check_box

How long does delivery take?

Ten to eighteen days to most countries, fifteen to twenty-five inside Iraq. Shipping is free, tracked and insured, and you get the tracking number as soon as it leaves us.

check_box

Can I ask questions before I order?

Yes, and we would rather you did. Message the page on Facebook or Instagram — a real person answers, usually within the hour.
